Shift of the functionality of office suites in the era of cloud computing

This thesis deals with shift of the functionality of office suites in the era of cloud computing. The author examines the changing concept of office application software in the time of commercial software and the time of cloud computing and concludes that office applications are shifting their functionality from simple tools replacing just a calculator or typewriter into core corporate tools that affect the way how people communicate and collaborate.
Comparison of cloud office suite for use in a university environment

Goal of this thesis is to define and describe the use of cloud computing and in particular its Software-as-a-Service in the university environment with educators and students. The work should present options for using this model, the benefits, opportunities, but also potential risks associated with it. The practical part is to provide specific and comprehensive use of SaaS in practice and comparison between products. In the introduction thesis would like to define the concept of Cloud Computing, its characteristics and models offered. In the main theoretical chapter thesis define the SaaS model and use his benefits on campus. The practical part is a comparison of specific products and specific solutions from Google, Apple, Microsoft and others. In the introduction to the practical part will describe the main functionality and use of these products. Next thesis will focus on individual functions and their comparison. Thesis would like to pick functions appropriate for the target group of teaching staff and for the target group of students. Next, thesis analyze the environment and the academic response to the aforementioned services. Finally, thesis evaluate the benefits of using these services on campus. The full conclusion is devoted to looking at the future use of services and their contribution not only to study.
